The Brits were eating Rats during the second world war in Japanese prisons. There are no barriers in life when you begin to starve. Most westerners today have no idea what real hunger is anymore , we just see it on News Reels.
What a phony. Had no clue what most of these were. Pigs feet are a staple food in all of China, but he had no idea. The only thing he could comment about at length was the fetal egg, because Andrew Zimmern already covered it brilliantly on Bizarre Foods. Andrew Zimmern is the real deal. Bourdain is a huge fake and his lack of food knowledge was exposed by this interview. Bourdain was asked what he would serve President Trump and he sain "Hemlock". Bourdain was a fake and full of hate. Not surprise he could not live with himself.
Dear Westerners... there’s more to food than steak potatoes hamburgers and hotdogs. Probably why your population is so obese and full of medical problems. FYI, cow is sacred in India and pig is deemed disgusting in Arab countries. Try it you might like it....see sushi in the 1970’s and how people thought that was disgusting.
Tony loved all foods, for the food shared and opened a part of other cultures and peoples around this entire earth. If he could go to Mars to try foods there I’m sure he would! And one other thought one of his favorite foods were the Asian foods, you can see him eating just a bowl of noodles and head him saying it makes him happy. And that’s a fact, a bowl of pho or curry noodles. He even enjoyed eating that smelly fruit Durian, in which I love as well! And another point Zimmerman can never he eat it!
All the white people in the background making faces... bet they all pay a fortune to experience "exotic places" for their vacation but go to McDonalds or Starbucks the minute they land there. Anthony Bourdain, you will be dearly missed, one of the most authentic and decent human beings on this earth. R.I.P
If calling out the audience's and host's own obvious bigotry is weird and bigoted, then so be it. I experience this kind of bias on a daily basis myself and I feel that even Bourdain was apparently weary of hearing disrespectful comments like "ewww" from Westerners.
The genuine understanding and respect Anthony Bourdain showed towards the cultures he interacted with is why he was so important and lived and it's why his death is such a huge loss. That and he was sarcastic as hell, and who doesn't love that?!
Anthony Burdain is SOOOOO HANDSOME ♡ WE NEED YOU WE LOVE YOU , WHY ? I hope you gave us the chance to let you know how much we need you and give life a chance. Thank you for everything Anthony , you are my inspiration why globetrolle and try their foods. I really really hope you give us the chance to make you realise how much the world need you...
My father was based in the Philippines in WW2 and his native GF tried to get him to eat balut many times. She and her family ate them regularly. My Dad said he would rather get malaria (which he had, twice) again.
He was the genuine article! Great specimen of human character that people across the human race can relate to easily. Sigh... why is he gone?? O Great God of heaven & earth, why o why?? Perhaps, his death, much like his life, is a chance for those of us left behind to ponder, learn & live by.
You will be missed anthony. So open to cultures around the world and respectfull. I wish more americans were just as open. Just because people eat different foods in other countries, they think "eww" out loud. I myself have caught myself at times
