Two Florida police officers are facing scrutiny for a traffic stop where they pulled over a state attorney back in June. The entire incident was caught on the officers' body cameras. CBSN's Stephanie Sy has details.

All The Morons Commenting She got Pulled over for being black? Fucken idiots the windows are tinted they were rolled down once she got pulled over...but honestly you dont have to roll your windows all the way down but enough to hand them your license and other shyt.
When they had the chance they didn't make the situation any better. They should have immediately turned the lights off on the vehicle gave their names and apologized....say "we made a mistake" ... nope instead they stood on either side(as if she was a threat) and began giving excuses and even suggested she still maybe breaking the law with her tint.Im not sure if these guys were stupid or just didn't understand the gravity of the situation.
Way to commit, cop. Being *”A”* (not *”THE”* State Attorney) doesn’t preclude adherence to the law!
If her plate, indeed, wasn’t registered to anything — he should’ve cited for it and towed the vehicle. ....then obtained a tint gauge, and ascertained that as well.
But noooo.... Little miss ‘First Black Female SA’ get treated with kit gloves.
If the cop(s) were just throwing out BS probable causes — then they get what’s coming.
“We run tags all the time.”
I was in the US from September 28 2015 to January 6th 2016.
I hadn’t lived in the US since I left for my 1st duty station in Okinawa Mar 3rd 1994.
I eventually got a contract to work in San Diego. I bought a brand FRS RS-1. It’s not an expensive car. To some it looked like one.
I drove from Pittsburgh, PA to San Diego stopping all over the place to see the many parks and amazing natural areas in the US.
During that 2 week drive I was stop 26 times and every time they had ran my plates before stopping me, because there’s no way I could own a car that nice.
They stopped me anyway. Many told me they ran my plates and they wanted to make sure it was me.
I got to San Diego & my car was totaled by a police officer side swiping me. He was looking at his phone. Literally the day I drive into San Diego the car was totaled.
Then I found out the business that hired me was seized by the FBI & IRS. So, I was out a car, out a job, and had been harassed for two weeks. Literally stopped everyday.
So, I left. Only go back to check on my mom and pop.
I joined the military hoping I’d go overseas, because I had been harassed by police during my teenage years and 1 cop fractured 2 of my ribs while I was in the position with my hands on the hood of my car and my legs spread.
Said me needed to teach me respect. I’ve never committed a crime in my life. Well, some fashion crimes have been committed. Other than that never. I complied and thought I was going to be shot for nothing and it was the week of my birthday.
When I realized I was actually relieved that all I got was two fractured ribs I went straight to the recruiter’s office.
I didn’t come back for 20 years. When I did I got harassed for driving a good looking car while black.
So, I left again.
Won’t be back.
Illegal Stop Period! You can't stop someone for factory tint and he thought it was a young black guy and to his surprise it was a professional woman who happened to be the State Attorney and he saw his 60K go out the window.
I still believe the cop was only doing his job, it was a fifty fifty chance she’s whether driving a stolen vehicle or she’s employed by the government hence why the tag didn’t come back to anything - the cop never had a tone to change at all and was pretty polite throughout the entire thing and if anyone is gonna pull the racism card he had no way of seeing her skin tone because first he pulled behind her and second her windows were tinted so - the attorney is just a drama queen trying to play the victim.
There's just no legal precedent to running a plate if no stop is already being executed. That's what they did wrong. They were bored, probably trying to meet a quota of some sort, but they learned why they should leave quota filling to the speedguns.
The system not identifying a car license number=car stolen? How? She's the State Attorney, clearly wouldn't go around in a unlicensed or stolen car, they stopped her seeing very well through the window she's a black woman. Come on, it's like I'm telling fairy tales.
didn't you watch the video? Florida cops stop cars all the time to check on them to see if they were stolen or are registered etc etc. It's not unusual for cops stoping cars.
This has nothing to do with race. The lady's car window is dark so they dont even know if the driver is male or female or white or black. How do you know if shes white or black if the car window is so dark that you cant see the inside. If someone should get fired, it's the lady taht should be removed from her position for abusing her power. So if you are the state attorney, you are above the law? If she fires them then i have to say that is abuse and corruption there.
It's funny how corruption works. when a state attorney gets their constitutional rights violated it becomes a big deal. But when a citizen gets there constitutional rights violated nobody cares. I swear are judicial system as a damn joke.
I don't get what was the problem here. In Europe we are pulled over constantly for routine checks. It's normal and no resentment. If everything is OK, you are free to go. Please someone explain it to my why a police officer is scrutinised after this? Are the police not allowed to pull over cars in the US?
i doubt that if was a white driver they wouldn't have pulled her/him over period ! that's racist about this ! she's black period ! good thing they got caught ! we're all the same no matter our color of skin or nationality period ! respect goes a long way !
NICE TRY !! SHE HAD "CONFIDENTIAL LICENSE PLATES & DARK WINDOWS. WHY WOULDN'T THE OFFICERS STOP HER. AND NOW, LET'S ASK THE SOME QUESTIONS, OK ?? HOW MANY TAGS DO THEY RUN EVERY DAY? WHAT'S THE RACE PROFILE OF THE STOPS? WHAT ARE THE RESULTS OF THE STOPS? UNTIL YOU HAVE THAT DATA, YOUR RACE CLAIM HERE IS TOTAL BS.
