Hi Carolyn, So understand about dogs being afraid of storms. We have a Jack Russell who is so scared. She will try and take down any dog no matter's the size (she is a scrapper) but storms make Lucy a puddle of mess when a storm comes through. I know it breaks your heart. God love your Capone. Keep on Keeping on and traveling mercies to you and Capone B. Darlene
I give up ! The more I tried , the further away I got . I have a request .
Can you do some more cozy rain videos with you & Capone inside the RV snug & warm while you drink some hot coffee & give us one of you lectures about life & living while we listen to the rain hitting the roof ?
Being that I do Bigfoot research in Ky, I'd like to thank you for the clue about Little Lick. It's in the area of where I've done lots of research and had what I believe to be Bigfoot activity. Don't worry, I don't harass them. I just camp and observe, and if they want to interact that's fine. Love your videos and lifestyle. Don't know that I'll ever give up traditional living, but you certainly make it look inviting. Enjoy!!!
This is one of my favorite videos of yours Carolyn! So happy and relaxing. Today I finished paying off my old debts, repairing my credit and pretty soon will be the big RV show in Ft. Worth, when I'll likely get my 25 ft class C. Hopefully next year I'll see you at RTR!✌️
I have had mixed results with storm tolerance, my 1st mutt dog (chow chow/gsd mix) was kind of a weirdo when we'd get very nice super cells and tornado sirens, hail, 60+ mph wind, etc. Generation 2-3 of the dogs (a great pyrenees mix, GSD respectively) have not given a crap about the weather besides being good about coming to their humans or good cover when there is lightning and they're not already in good cover. I need to research that before generation 3 gets old and generation 4 arrives and not leave it up to luck. I guess it helps that I get them as puppies in the Spring which is good severe weather season in my region of the South so some of their earliest long term memories are of getting pounded by supercells and derechos, we don't freak out so they don't freak out. The cats have not cared either, for some reason all of my cats have been pretty big and lean killing machines. Utterly fearless except veterinarian office. It's currently deer and duck season in my region of the South, you should be aware of the hunting seasons in the Southern states you travel in and wear orange vests on your person and on Capone and any future dogs should you continue doing this RVing thing if you don't want to get .243, .270, .30, or worse entry wounds out of ~nowhere this time of year in the middle of nowhere bits of the South.
I was watching your Dudley visitor video, I had seen it a few hours ago, and it came up again, so I was just watching it again, then after about 5 minutes, a commercial came on, but instead of returning to that video, YouTube switched me to your Camping in Ky , posted on 11/2/17 . I can see how this might make your views go down. I don't get to watch everyday, but I look forward to your free videos. ;)
The trees haven't started turning colors there yet. It looks so pretty here in Iowa with the red and yellow trees and the harvest going on.
Awe, Capone doesn't like being reprimanded....he is sensitive. What a good boy!
They say bears smell to high heaven as well as big cats. I bet Capone can smell them and is on alert.
Man, that is beautiful and well maintained park.
Capone doesn't like hearing God dump the tater wagon, does he? It's loud! Bless his heart.
You should totally do Survivor, you could be a millionaire.
Not fog..its Kentucky haze...gosh I can just smell the air. I was born in Kentucky and when I go back to visit..I love it...especially the smell of the air in the morning with the coffee & bacon going.,mmmmmm
Hello! Your information on a vegan diet has got me interested in making some changes to my own diet. Can you recommend a brand of nutritional yeast that has a cheesy taste? I would be purchasing it from Amazon. Thanks!
Carolyn's RV Life I've read that some nutritional yeasts have more of a nutty flavor. THANK YOU for your reply. I want to make some of that tofu scamble I have bought the organic tofu now i need to buy the yeast. I live in an area where yhey do not carry it, is there anbrand you prefer I can order from amazon? I was looking at Sari? Brand since it is unfortified.
P.S. - Are you familiar with Nomadland by Jessica Bruder? Bob W is interviewed extensively, among others. Well written, very thoughtful, colorful and considerate of so many who changed their lifestyles and why, since the Recession of 2008.
Shut the door would help your dog. I have been comforting my lab through thunder & fireworks & he is less & less frightened. Also you can wrap a blanket snug around the dog. I always say "it's OK just a noisy storm" or "noisy neighbors" for fireworks. I don't baby him I just comfort him. He & I get on his end of the bed & snuggle through it. Your breakfast looks delicious. Wowzer video.
Love nooch (nutritional yeast)! I buy bulk nooch and bulk does NOT have B12 but does have the other B's which are naturally occurring in nutritional yeast. If you buy some commercial nutritional yeasts they may add B12 supplement but do please check because that's not always the case. LOVE nooch <3
Ahh, poor capone, I have a Labrador that shakes like that too with a rain storm. I hug her and hold her tight. didn't know you shouldn't. love watching you. I plan on going on the road with my labs and husband. we have 6 dogs. they help me feel safe.
Some does get static electricity shocks from storms as well as being afraid of the noise of thunder storms. Link to more on why dogs are frightened during storms. My one dog is while my other dog was not. https://www.rover.com/blog/dogs-thunderstorms-and-static/. Nice video thanks!
Hey Carolyn, lol! You're somewhere close to me at this point. Not that I'm trying to stalk you. But that rain you got came over me too. Nice sharing it with ya! You know, here In Knox co Ky we just had the Daniel Boone Festival. They have rides and carnival type atmosphere. Not probably big like you may have seen other places but still pretty full. I hope you can catch it first few days of oct . next time, it happens Each year. We used to make quilts in school for the windows in town at festival times. And many kids made replicas of past history forts and so on. It seemed even more authentic when I was a child. They dressed in the clothes of that period. My daughter was in Girl Scouts when she was young, well I dressed like the women back then, I had the long dress, my shawl, and a bun hair doo. My daughter had a dress made by her great great aunt, it had a bonnet and everything. If you ever come see the festival, dress like back In Daniel Boone's time. So fun to do.
TFS! This vid made me homesick. Bears, big mtn cats, wolves are back and active, coyotes & small cats never left the area around and in DB Nat'l Forest. Heavy cold ky rain in summer is the best shower, we'd run for bathing suits & soap. Loved the sun coming up thru the trees with morning mist still in air, beautifuul
I am also a vegan but I do miss some of the tastes of the past. The tofu crumbled with the black salt and spinach tastes as if I had real eggs. I saw some of the vegan packaged products in the store you went to shop, they are not so tasty or healthy. You have such freedom that i would enjoy having but family and 5 great grandkids keeps me grounded here in Boston. Take care and be healthy. give Capone a pat for me
I recently saw a driveable camper for sale at So. Williamson Kentucky about 4 hrs from Somerset. I live about an hour from where I saw it and about 3 hrs from Somerset. I have ask a friend to get me a pic and phone number this weekend and if it
sounds like something you are looking for I will send you more information. It looked like a recent model and nice looking, we have a pull trailer so I don't know much about the drive kind. If I get the info and pic, I will let you know, my friend is attending a
craft fair there at the mall this weekend. I love your channel and so thankful you are sharing Kentucky in a good light. So often people put us down and make fun of our accent, we are just plain folk. God Bless your travels. Darlene Walker

I always thought Matilda looked cozy. I think it would be hard to give up the space that you have - it seems just right. Ooooo, you made me hungry for a tofu scramble. That hammock looked really nice! TFS!
I am at 3:47, and I just feel compelled to stop and tell you that the incredible joy you are getting through the beauty of daybreak just fills my soul with happiness! Literally, your joy is my joy. I don't think I have ever had that experience before..and it feels really good. I am also surprised with all the amazing places you have travelled and all the beauty you have seen that you are not immune to the simple wonders of nature. Like, you see this so often one would think you would be more jaded. That is very much a credit to you.
What lovely shots of Kentucky....it caused my wife, Pamela and I to want to visit in our motorhome. Pamela said it would be great to go see the Kentucky Derby! Maybe we will get a group of RVer's to commune there.
You can enjoy your hammock almost everywhere without the need for a pair of trees. If you have an anchor point fitted to the rear of the RV, as long as you can reverse up to a tree ( leaving a 8 foot gap or what's required for your particular version), you've got it made in the shade!!
Hi Carolyn! I watched a 4min Buzz feed video just for you! :)
That area is Gorgeous! Awe poor Capone! I've had dogs scared of rain & fireworks. But my dogs now, it does not phase them! I just feel awful when I see a dog shaking! I understand, it's hard not to comfort them!
I absolutely Love your Hammock! 😊
Oh & Matilda looks super cozy! 😊
Love hammocks. My grandfather's nirvana. He would sleep in our hammock on the screen porch when he'd come to visit from NYC when I was a child. His escape from the noise and loved being with nature on our 45 acres of country bliss. I bet he's up there in heaven right now taking a nap among the trees.
Great video! I think it’s the first time I have seen the “living area” in Matilda. SOOO comfy!!! Hearing the sound of rain really made me want to be out in the woods, too. That has ALWAYS been one of my favorite places to be, and experience. You ARE really good at being a kid, which I think should be a goal we have as we get older. Why not? Keep up the good work!
you wanna see beauty.. travel to south east KY. I'm in pikeville.. If you look up a place called The breaks state park.. its known as the grand canyon of the south and is one of the most beautiful places ive ever seen. you're about 2-2.5 hours from there
Hi Caroline. Have you thought about a weather comforter for Capone? They are available for sale, but you could make up something which what you have. My last dog was extrememly fearful of stormy weather. So, instead of purchasing, I threw some of my recently worn heavy clothing, like jeans or a jacket, over him and it would calm him right down so he could sleep. I'm not sure if having my scent present helped or not, but it didn't hurt either!
My dog, Max, is large and the same brown color as deer. I have bought him a bright orange net jacket for when we go camping in the woods. It is just netting, so they are not hot on the dog. They are cheap and you can get one at pet stores or amazon. It could save Capone's life.
